Introducing: Wembley Stadium Foundation Communities Fund

Introducing: Wembley Stadium Foundation Communities Fund

We’re proud to be investing £1 million over the next two years to support more than 100 grassroots projects and help thousands of young people get active and express themselves across England’s UEFA EURO 2028 Host Cities.

At a time when too many young people feel isolated, without safe places to go or ways to get involved, the Fund will help young people across the country get active, creative and connect to other young people and their wider communities.

Over the next two years, in the build up to UEFA EURO 2028 UK & Ireland, experienced local and national partners will deliver programmes across London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle, reaching those facing the greatest barriers to taking part and helping to close the gap in access to football, music and other sports and creative activities. The fund will support more young people feel a sense of ownership and pride in their city, and build a legacy for sport, movement and performing arts.

Wembley has a unique place in our national sporting and cultural life, and through our Communities Fund we want to use that platform to open doors for young people across the nation who too often face barriers to taking part. We are proud to be working with such experienced and trusted partners over the next two years, ensuring this funding reaches deep into communities. Paul Findlay, CEO, Wembley Stadium Foundation

The Fund has been designed to direct funding where it’s needed most in each city. Wembley Stadium Foundation has appointed expert local partners to award community grants to grassroots local projects. These partners understand the local need and will ensure funding and support reaches the organisations best placed to create impact in their community. Partners include:

  • London: Young Brent Foundation, Haringey Giving
  • Birmingham: Aston Villa Foundation
  • Manchester: City in the Community & Curious Minds
  • Liverpool: Everton in the Community
  • Newcastle: Community Foundation North East

Alongside this, selected national youth charities including Access Sport, Music for Youth and Youth Sport Trust will deliver flagship programmes across all cities, bringing young people together through sport and music. Programmes have been designed to boost youth leadership and increase youth provision.
